“Citizen empowerment to improve food and nutrition security of vulnerable populations in Rolpa district, Lumbini province, Nepal (POSHAN SUDHAR)” with financial support from BMZ/German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and Welthungerhilfe (WHH) being implemented by Rural Reconstruction Nepal (RRN) in two Rural Municipalities of Rolpa (Runtigadhi and Triveni). The duration of the project is Nov 2021 till Dec 2024. The overall object of the POSHAN SUDHAR project is to strengthen the food and nutrition security and empower the citizens of Runtigadhi and Triveni rural municipalities of Rolpa district. The project aims to engage directly and indirectly with 56,690 participants (11,231 HHs) and 16 CBOs/networks, that will benefit from citizen empowerment initiatives and capacity development of grass root organizations, inclusive and active participation in settlement level consultation and submission of micro plans, awareness campaigns at schools, communities and municipalities level, nutrition and policy advocacy, and implementation of municipal food and nutrition master plans.
The project will also deliver activities focused on vulnerable and marginalized households to improve the food and nutrition security, diet diversification and food consumption of children under 5, reproductive aged women and their households. Direct target groups are: 2.400 reproductive aged women participating to PLA LANN+ cycles, awareness raising, and nutrition gardens; 4.500 children under five years old supported through screening and 675 MAM children through nutrition activities (NERP camps, nutrition gardens and capacity building of their mothers and caregivers); 2.400 farmers (majority women) targeted for Good Agricultural Practices for technical capacity training, safe and healthy food and crop diversification, seeds and inputs provision and irrigation support.
